Tashkent to host 5th World Alumni Forum of MGIMO

On May 19, Tashkent will host the 5th World Alumni Forum of the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (MGIMO).

The event will bring together public officials and members of the civil society, academia and business community, as well as journalists from all over the world – those who graduated from the MGIMO at different times. The forum participants are united by the MGIMO student fraternity, the years spent in one of the best universities in Russia.

The opening ceremony of the Tashkent Forum will be attended by the Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulaziz Kamilov, the founder of USM Holdings, the deputy chairman of the MGIMO Board of Trustees Alisher Usmanov, the Culture Minister of Russia Vladimir Medinsky, the deputy chairman of the Federation Council of Russia Ilyas Umakhanov and others. The session will be moderated by Mikhail Gusman, member of the MGIMO Supervisory Board, Deputy Director General of TASS.

In the sessions devoted to current issues of politics, security, economy and culture, the Foreign Minister of Mongolia Damdin Tsogtbaatar, the Education Minister of Cambodia Hang Chuon Naron, a member of the Board of Trustees of MGIMO Fattah Shodiev will deliver speeches. In the afternoon, the Slovakian Foreign Minister Miroslav Lajčak will join the participants. All speakers are graduates of the MGIMO.

The main program of the forum is accompanied by business meetings of heads of departments and companies. During the meetings, bilateral relations in education, culture, and investments will be discussed.

The forum will include an expert discussion on multilateral cooperation and security in Central Asia, which will be attended by specialists from MGIMO, the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, as well as other universities of Uzbekistan and Russia. The event will also discuss new university development strategy.

The forum will become a platform for the presentation of programs of the opening MGIMO branch in Tashkent.
