Senate Committee on issues of women and gender equality may be established
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, speaking at the XX plenary session of the Senate of Oliy Majlis, proposed to organize a new committee on women and gender equality at the upper house of parliament.
“Speaking about the Senate, we primarily mean a great force, which in practice demonstrates the political, legal and cultural level of the national parliament, Senator is a real spokesperson and defender of the people's interests, great responsibility rests on the shoulders of each senator,” Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
In his speech, the head of state focused on the creation of decent working and living conditions for women, increasing their social protection, social-economic, political-legal activity.
“It must be admitted: women feel the people's concerns more deeply than others. If according to the results of the upcoming elections to Oliy Majlis and local Councils in December this year more industrious and educated women are elected, then the state and society will benefit from this,” the president said.
