Uzbekistan to subsidize railway passenger traffic
The Ministry of Transport plans to develop a program for subsidizing railway passenger traffic, Kun.uz correspondent reports.
“Passenger transportation is low profitable, or at some points even unprofitable. Therefore, today, a program of subsidizing passenger traffic is being developed. It will take a little more time,” the First Deputy Transport Minister Ilkhom Makhkamov said during a press conference.
He noted that at present the ministry monitors and compares the prices of tickets in those destinations where Uzbek trains travel.
“We have studied all our international routes and are now considering alternative costs. I think that within two weeks we will give a separate comment on the prices of train tickets,” Ilkhom Makhkamov said.
