The proposal is included in a draft strategy for the integrated development of domestic passenger services by rail, air and road through 2030. The document envisages three railway lines linking airports with railway stations in major cities.
In Tashkent, the planned line would connect the new airport with the capital’s Northern Railway Station. Similar links are proposed between the international airports and railway stations in Urgench and Bukhara.
The projects would require feasibility studies, design and cost-estimate documentation, land allocation, approval of engineering solutions, construction and commissioning of the new lines.
The strategy sets a target of completing one railway line in 2026, increasing the total to two by 2029 and three by 2030.
Commercial bank loans, based on approved calculations, are proposed as a source of financing.
The draft strategy also calls for establishing 20 public transport routes connecting airports, railway stations and bus terminals by 2030.
The document has been submitted for public consultation, which will continue until November 11.
