Law enforcement agencies responded to the statement by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev about bribes worth $80 million as part of the construction at the Ustyurt gas chemical complex. The president mentioned it at his speech during the twentieth plenary session of the Senate.
“For 20 years, 50% of all projects in the oil and gas sector have been bribed. One official received $80 million as part of the construction work at the Ustyurt gas chemical complex,” Mirziyoyev said.
The chairman of the board of Uzbekneftegaz Bahodir Sidikov said that he personally “has no proof to assert” this fact is true.
“If there is a statement by the head of state, then he had enough reasons to say that, and appropriate measures will be taken in this direction for sure. As far as we know, law enforcement agencies are already engaged in this issue,” Sidikov told reporters.
