Shavkat Mirziyoyev signs bill “On Personal Data” into law
The President of Uzbekistan signed the law “On Personal Data”.
In accordance with the law, personal data is any information that relates to an identified or identifiable living individual recorded on an electronic, paper and (or) other material form.
According to the law, the State Personalization Center under the Cabinet of Ministers is an authorized state body in the field of personal data.
The provision of personal data to government bodies is free of charge.
The state guarantees the protection of personal data. The disclosure and dissemination of personal data is not allowed without the consent of the individual or the presence of other legal grounds.
The law comes into force on October 1, 2019.
