Tashkent traffic patrol department begins testing body cameras

From July 22, body camera tests have begun on the streets of the capital. 

According to the General Directorate of Traffic Safety under the Ministry of Internal Affairs, from July 22, practical tests of body cameras have begun on the streets of Tashkent. The purpose is to identify and eliminate possible shortcomings.

“Of course, before entering into a dialogue with drivers, traffic inspectors will warn them that their conversation is being recorded on the body camera. The test results will be studied by a reputable commission, after which the developer company will be submitted proposals and recommendations,” the report says.

In addition to body cameras, specially designed vests for traffic inspectors are being tested.

It should be recalled that in accordance with the resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers “On additional measures to provide employees of the internal affairs bodies with mobile video surveillance cameras”, the period of providing the traffic patrol department employees and patrol-post units of the internal affairs bodies with mobile video cameras and tablets was extended until January 1, 2020.
