The official remittances of Uzbek citizens to their homeland in 2018 amounted to about $5 billion, the Minister of Employment and Labor Relations Sherzod Kudbiyev said today at a meeting of the international press club.

“In 2018, citizens officially transferred about $5 billion to their homeland. This is more than any component of the country's export, whether it is textile products or others,” the minister said.

According to him, today about 2.6 million citizens of Uzbekistan work abroad, of which 83% are in Russia (more than 2 million people).

According to the Central Bank of the Russian Federation, at the end of 2018, Uzbekistan became the leader among the CIS countries in terms of the volume of money transfers from Russia. Over the year Uzbekistan received $4.082 billion.
