Electrification works at Pap-Namangan railway line completed
The first high-speed passenger train along the new Pap-Namangan electrified railway is launched, the JSC Uzbekistan Railways said.
In connection with this, a festive event was held at the Namangan railway station, in which the deputy chairman of the board of JSC Uzbekistan Railways A. Kamalov and the khokim of the Namangan region Kh. Bozorov took part.
The company noted that they completely electrified the Pap-Namangan section of the line, which includes Pap, Chust, Turakurgan and Raustan stations. The total cost of the project is $202.3 million.
It is also planned to build two electric substations and 25 artificial structures on the new line. For these purposes, excavation work has already been carried out on the site.
At present, diesel locomotives are being replaced with modern electric locomotives, which will significantly increase the speed of movement in this section, and reduce fuel consumption by three times.
