Uzbek students beaten in Shymkent. MFA says Embassy in Kazakhstan takes the situation under control
The Foreign Ministry of Uzbekistan commented on the incident with the beating of Uzbek students in Shymkent.
On September 21, a meeting was held at the Regional Social-Innovation University of Shymkent with participation of the Ambassador of Uzbekistan Saidikrom Niyazkhodjayev, representatives of the akimat (administration) of Shymkent, Rector of the University Sandybay Boranbayev, Deputy Chairman of the People’s Assembly of Kazakhstan Sherzod Pulatov, Deputy Chairman of the People’s Assembly Of Kazakhstan in Shymkent Muradali Khalmuradov, Chairman of the “Dustlik” Uzbek Ethnocultural Association in Kazakhstan Ikram Khashimjanov.
During the event, measures were discussed to ensure the safety of Uzbek citizens studying in Shymkent, to take legal measures against offenders and to conduct necessary preventive measures to avoid future incidents.
Reportedly, the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Kazakhstan and the Consulate General in Almaty took control of the situation. On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, representatives of the consulate general are in the city and have maintained contact with the leadership of the region and the university, as well as Uzbek students, who are informed that they are protected by the diplomatic mission.
“All existing problems will be solved jointly with the local authorities of Shymkent. They will provide comprehensive support to the actions of the diplomatic mission,” the MFA press service said.
It should be recalled that a few days ago a video was published on networks, in which the local youth of Shymkent beat Uzbek students.
