President approves strategy for transition to "green" economy

In accordance with the presidential decree, the strategy for Uzbekistan’s transition to "green" economy in the period 2019-2030 was approved.

One of the main objectives of the initiative is to increase the energy efficiency of Uzbekistan and rational consumption of natural resources.

This will be achieved through modernization of technology and development of financial mechanisms.

As a result of the strategy’s implementation, specific greenhouse gas emissions per unit of gross domestic product will be reduced by 10% from the 2010 level.

Up to 100% of the population and sectors of the economy will also have access to a modern, affordable and reliable energy supply.

In addition, production and use of environmentally improved motor fuel and cars will be expanded, and electric transport will develop.
