Abdulla Aripov calls on SCO countries to jointly deal with the consequences of Aral Sea disaster
The Prime Minister of Uzbekistan Abdulla Aripov, at the meeting of the SCO Council of Government Heads, called for the adoption of the SCO “green belt” program.
He emphasized that Uzbekistan intends to promote cooperation in countering the challenges of climate change.
“To tackle the problems of ecology and water scarcity, we propose to develop and adopt a SCO “green belt” program. Given the global scale of the Aral Sea crisis consequences, we urge the SCO countries to support the initiative of Uzbekistan to declare the Aral Sea region a zone of environmental innovation and technology,” Aripov said.
The Head of Government of Uzbekistan expressed confidence that the joint efforts of the SCO countries will ensure the practical implementation of the agreements reached to further strengthen multifaceted cooperation.
