Uzbekistan supports creation of Trans-Afghan transit corridor with access to seaports
On November 8, 2019, First Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Ilhom Nematov, who is in Turkey on a working visit, met with the Secretary General of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) Dr. Hadi Soleimanpour.
The parties exchanged views on issues included in the agenda of the ECO Council of Foreign Ministers’ 24th meeting.
Highlighting the main areas of interaction between the member states of the organization, the head of the Uzbekistan delegation emphasized the need to strengthen cooperation in such relevant areas as trade, investment, development of transport and communication, as well as in tourism.
Uzbekistan is intensifying economic cooperation with neighboring states, in connection with which it expressed readiness to establish mutually beneficial and regular dialogue within the framework of the ECO.
During the meeting, it was noted that Uzbekistan supports the diversification of transport routes, including the creation of the Trans-Afghan transit corridor with access to seaports.
Other relevant issues of Uzbekistan’s participation in the organization were also considered at the meeting.
