Airports in Uzbekistan may be privatized
The Director of the Agency for State Property Management Sunatilla Bekenov received a delegation of Sumitomo Corporation headed by the Deputy Director of the Japan Civil Aviation Bureau.
During the meeting, information on the latest decisions on civil aviation reform in the country, on developments and priorities in the sector as a result of reforms in tourism was provided.
“This meeting is important ahead of the upcoming high-level visit of the President of Uzbekistan to Japan,” the Agency’s director Bekenov said.
In the course of the meeting, prospects for the rational use of public-private partnerships in the effective management of airports as a justified method in international practice were also discussed. In particular, proposals were made on the project of concession management of the Tashkent International Airport. There was an interest in driving this mechanism at the airports of Samarkand, Bukhara, Urgench, Fergana and Termez.
In addition, the issue of involving Japanese experts in the activities of the JSC Uzbekistan Airports was considered.
The parties also commented on the management system of Japan’s Narita, Fukoka, Senday, Kansay and Hokkaido airports, which occupy a worthy place in the ranking of international airports.
The head of the Japanese delegation thanked for the warm welcome and shared his proposals for joint implementation of investment projects in the aviation industry.
