In Uzbekistan, an episode of the sensational British reality show “Race across the world” is being filmed. This was reported by the press service of the National Film Commission of Uzbekistan, which provides support to the project and the filming crew, acting as a “bridge” between government agencies that issue various kinds of permits, Sputnik writes.
The filming in Uzbekistan is organized by famous journalist Nikita Makarenko. This is the second season of the TV show. Reportedly, it will consist of eight 40-minute episodes.
“Race across the world” is a new ambitious adventure format of the show, dedicated not only to travel, but also to the culture of various countries. Several teams compete for a prize in the race from Denmark to Singapore without using airplanes. The winner is the team, who arrives first to the destination,” authors of the show write.
According to scriptwriters, participants of the show will have a limited amount of money with them, equivalent to the cost of a plane ticket from Copenhagen to Singapore. The idea is simple: take a trip around the globe in any way possible – on foot, by car, by bicycle, by boat, by bus, by ferry, by motorcycle, by horse or even by camel.
Players make all decisions on their own. Participants will not be able to use mobile phones and the Internet. In fact, they will be cut off from the world. However, this makes the show so interesting, the project owners believe.
Filming in Uzbekistan will last a week. Since the teams have started their journey from Copenhagen, the arrival time of each of them will be different.
“One of the goals of this project is to show that in the modern world people began to use planes so often that the process of travel is no longer of any interest. It is just jumping from point “A” to point “B”. But for the amount of money that you buy an air ticket, you can travel half of the world and get to your destination,” Makarenko said.
The reality show “Race across the world” was created by “Lambert” and broadcast last spring on the BBC Two TV. Then the participants competed on a journey from London to Singapore.
“Uzbekistan became a sort of sensation in the UK, when it was shown in the last show. Twitter users wrote in bulk about the country, many wrote that they had heard about “Uzbekistan” for the first time and wanted to come here,” Makarenko noted.
Thanks to this show, the republic earned a good reputation (PR) for free. The principle of the show is that the participants must actively contact local residents to ask for help.
“As you know, Uzbeks are very hospitable people. Wherever the participants of the “Race across the world” show have visited, people helped them in every possible way, recalling their knowledge of the English language,” the National Film Commission said.
According to Makarenko, “Race across the world” is a rather difficult project to produce, as no one knows what happens next. The participants make their own decisions, that’s why the cameramen and scriptwriters have to be alert and literally change everything along the way.
