Mirzo-Ulugbek Abdusalomov: Six candidates for deputies withdrew their candidacy
Six candidates for deputies voluntarily withdrew their candidacy before voting began, the CEC chairman Mirzo-Ulugbek Abdusalomov said at a press conference.
“According to the CEC decision of November 15, 750 candidates for deputies of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis were registered. Until December 21, 6 out of 750 candidates, according to the declarations of voluntary exclusion, were removed from the list, and today the list of candidates consists of 744 people,” he said.
The elections are directly monitored by 825 international observers from more than 50 countries and 10 influential international organizations. In addition, more than 70,000 observers from political parties that have nominated their candidates are involved in the process.
According to Abusalomov, a single electronic voter list, which has been introduced this year for the first time, included 20 million 495 thousand 457 voters, including 18 million 797 810 people, or 91.7% in Uzbekistan, the remaining 1 million 697 647 people, or 8.7% – abroad.
