Import of foreign-made cars increases
In January-November 2019, Uzbekistan imported cars for $370.6 million, follows from the data of the State Statistics Committee.
Compared to the same period last year, imports grew by 52.6 percent. The pace, which fell in the middle of the year, began to recover.
If in 2018, the people spent around $319 million on the import of foreign-made cars, then in eleven months of 2019 they spent more than $370 million, which shows a considerable growth.
The general increase in the import of foreign cars can be attributed to the fact that starting from January, the Government of Uzbekistan introduced a zero duty rate for the import of vehicles which cost $40 thousand or more.
The duty privilege will cease to apply from January 1, 2020.
