Uzbekistan strengthens sanitary controls at borders, isolates patients with pneumonia
The Health Ministry told what measures are being taken in Uzbekistan to prevent the emergence and spread of coronavirus.
According to the ministerial press service, the Ministry of Health and the Agency on Sanitary and Epidemiological Wellbeing are taking a number of measures to ensure the safety of the population and to prevent the appearance of coronavirus in the country.
“In the border areas, special attention is paid to high-quality medical examination of fellow travelers passing through sanitary-quarantine points. Patients with pneumonia and other acute respiratory diseases (ARI) are isolated and hospitalized,” the Ministry of Health said.
Also, the preparedness of medical institutions for the hospitalization of patients with suspected influenza, acute respiratory infections and pneumonia is ensured, a reserve of medicines and disinfectants for the treatment of patients is created.
“If patients with suspected severe types of influenza, acute respiratory infections and pneumonia are detected among passengers arriving from China, laboratory tests is organized. In order to increase the level of knowledge of pilots and railway conductors, explanatory work is carried out with the participation of specialists,” the Ministry of Health noted.
It should be recalled that on December 31, 2019, the Chinese authorities informed the World Health Organization (WHO) about an outbreak of unknown pneumonia in the city of Wuhan. The first cases of infection are associated with the local wholesale market, which sold seafood.
On January 7, 2020, Chinese experts established the causative agent of the disease – this is 2019-nCoV coronavirus.
In addition, Chinese authorities have confirmed that a new type of pneumonia is transmitted from person to person (it was previously said that the disease is not transmitted in this way). Reportedly, 14 medical workers were infected with a new type of coronavirus.
