Law on census adopted
Now the population of Uzbekistan is subject to compulsory census at least once in ten years.
On March 16, 2020, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed the law “On census”.
The purpose of the law is to regulate relations in the field of the census.
According to the law, the census is conducted at least once every ten years. The State Statistics Committee is the specially authorized body responsible for its implementation.
Citizens’ self-government bodies, NGOs and the mass media can assist in the preparation and the conduct of the census, participate in the process of informing the population about it.
The law comes into force from the date of its official publication.
