Malaysian company to invest $250 million for the implementation of a project in Khazorasp FEZ
On April 9, 2020, a videoconference meeting was held between the Ambassador of Uzbekistan to Malaysia Ravshan Usmanov and the Vice President of Serba Dinamik International Limited (SDIL) Palendran Palachandran, which was also attended by the deputy governor of the Khorezm region Shavkat Tulyaganov and the deputy department head of the Ministry of Investments and Foreign Trade Nurzod Khayrullaev.
During the videoconference, the parties discussed the implementation of an investment project on the organization of the production of caustic soda and liquid chlorine in the Khazorasp free economic zone. The Malaysian side plans to allocate $250 million direct investments for its implementation, the MFA said.
The participants were informed about measures taken in Uzbekistan to ensure macroeconomic stability, uninterrupted operation of industries and economic sectors, implementation of investment projects with the participation of foreign companies, as well as measures taken to combat the spread of the coronavirus pandemic in the country.
Following the talks, agreements were reached on the development by SDIL of a “roadmap” for the implementation of this investment project and the organization of SDIL expert group’s visit to Uzbekistan.
