Uzbekistan builds a mosque in southern Kazakhstan
A large mosque for more than 5,000 worshippers is being built in the city of Turkestan, located in the south of Kazakhstan.
According to the information agency “Kazinform”, the mosque is Uzbekistan’s gift to Kazakhstan.
The report states that the construction of the project was supported by the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The total area of the mosque is 5 000 sq m and its foundation was laid last year. Additionally, it is expected that 3,000 people can be accommodated outside the main building of the mosque.
The complex will also include a ceremonial building, a congress hall, a 180-seat madrasah, a library, a dining room, sports grounds, a 500-car parking lot and a fountain.
