Foreign employers will have to pay the cost of employment services for individuals seeking work outside Uzbekistan
Uzbekistan introduces a mechanism for making a foreign employer responsible for paying the cost of employment services for individuals seeking work outside Uzbekistan.
At the regular plenary session of the Legislative Chamber of Oliy Majlis held on June 11, 2020, deputies considered in the first reading the draft law “On amendments and additions to the Law “On private employment agencies”. The press office of Oliy Majlis informs about this.
It is noted that the fact that licensing authorities lack the power to inspect the activities of private employment agencies leads to considerable material damage through deception and abuse of public trust. Thus, criminal proceedings have been instituted against the managers and employees of 10 private employment agencies for material damage to 7,123 citizens for a total amount of 72,888 million soums.
“The draft law improves the system for the employment of citizens abroad and introduces a mechanism for paying the cost of employment services at the expense of a foreign employer. It also prevents the payment of services before these individuals are provided with jobs. The adoption of the draft law will serve to prevent abuses by private employment agencies and damage to the property of citizens,” the statement reads.
