Central Bank: 200 and 500 soum banknotes to be taken out of circulation from July 1
From 1 July, 200 and 500 soum banknotes will be withdrawn from circulation in Uzbekistan.
In accordance with the regulation on the procedure for exchanging and withdrawing 50, 100 soum coins and 50, 100, 200 and 500 soum old-model banknotes from circulation, following means of payment shall cease to be valid from July 1, 2020:
- 200 soum banknotes printed in 1997;
- 500 soum banknotes printed in 1999.
These old banknotes will be accepted by all branches of commercial banks until July 1, 2020, and after that, they can be exchanged directly in the cashier’s centers of the CB’s territorial departments.
“If you have 200 and 500 soum banknotes of the old model, you can exchange them in the established order,” the press service of the regulator said.
