Uzbekistan abolishes restrictions on visits of juvenile convicts to parents

The President signed the law “On amendments and additions to the Criminal-Executive Code of the Republic of Uzbekistan aimed at ensuring reliable protection of the rights and legitimate interests of convicts”.

According to the document, in Uzbekistan, the restriction on the visits of juvenile convicts to parents or their substitutes has been canceled.

A separate procedure for visits by convicted women to minor children is also established. In particular, convicted women can visit their children 4 times a year, each one lasting for up to 5 days. Long visits to the colonies are provided without restrictions, with the possibility of living outside the penal institution.

In addition, the procedure for the application of incentive measures based on fair criteria, as well as the activities of the commission for the application of incentive measures and its specific tasks, were determined.
