Jeenbekov: China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway is extremely important for us

According to the information service of the Kyrgyz President, the Minister of Transport and Roads Baishenov provided information on the state of construction and reconstruction projects of the country’s main roads. The Minister also informed about the progress of negotiations on the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway construction project.

Sooronbay Jeenbekov noted the special importance of this railway, recalling that all parties made their decisions on it.

“We have no access to the sea, and due to the pandemic we remain “locked up”. Because borders were closed, not only economic but also food security is under threat. The provision of basic goods to the population is threatened. Therefore it is very important to increase the transit potential of the country, and therefore the China-Kyrgyzstan-Uzbekistan railway is important for us,” the Kyrgyz President said.

Jeenbekov stressed the need to carry out continuous work in this field and to strengthen the control over the activities of the state enterprise “NK Kyrgyz Temir Zholu”.

According to Minister Janat Baishenov, ministers and experts of stakeholders hold consultative meetings on the implementation of the mega-project.
