State Committee on Statistics reports an increase in wages in H1 2020
In January-June 2020, the average monthly nominal wage in Uzbekistan was 2.5 million soums. Compared to the same period in 2019, it has increased by 21.6%.
In comparison with the January-June period of last year, the average monthly nominal wages in 2020 has increased by 33.4% in the banking, insurance, leasing and credit-brokerage sectors, by 28.5% – in the transport and storage sectors, by 23.4% – in healthcare and social services, by 21.9% – in the construction sector, by 17.8% – in arts, entertainment and leisure, by 17.0% – in the sphere of education, by 16.3% – in trade and by 9.8% – in the information and communications sector.
In the sphere of banking, insurance, leasing and credit brokerage activities, the average monthly nominal wage in April 2020 amounted to 5.1 million soums, in May – 6 million and in June – 5.1 million soums.
In the sphere of education, the average monthly nominal wage in April 2020 was 1.7 million soums, in May it reached 1.8 million and in June - 1.9 million soums. In this field, the average monthly nominal wage increased by 17 percent compared to the same period of last year.
By regions, the average monthly nominal wage was the highest in Tashkent - 3.6 million soums, then Navoi – 3.3 million and the Tashkent region – 2.6 million soums. In contrast, the average monthly nominal wage was lower than the national average in the Surkhandarya region – 2 million soums, Jizzakh – 2 million, Samarkand – 2 million, Namangan – 2 million and Kashkadarya – 1.9 million soums.
