President Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a videoconference on July 28 to discuss measures on addressing the complicated situation with coronavirus in the regions
“The spread of COVID-19 around the world is still going on. In the last five days, the number of infected people in our country has increased by 3,000 and amounted to 21,700. Cases of pneumonia have significantly increased in Bukhara, Fergana, Samarkand, Namangan, Tashkent, Khorezm regions and Karakalpakstan.
It is known that in accordance with the decision of the Special Republican Commission, the term of quarantine requirements in our country has been extended until August 15. At the same time, the current situation requires further intensification of the fight against the pandemic,” the President said.
At the meeting, the current issues in the regions were discussed and additional tasks were identified.
The Special Republican Commission has been instructed to form groups to provide practical assistance in stabilizing the epidemiological situation at places and to treat patients. The group members will be sent to each region.
These groups include heads and specialists of relevant agencies, specialized medical centers and medical universities, as well as experienced retired doctors. Early and accurate diagnosis of the population in these areas will be an important factor in the qualified treatment of patients.
The khokimiyats have been tasked with setting up hospitals specialized in treating coronavirus patients, increasing the number of intensive care and resuscitation facilities, and providing them with the necessary medical equipment and medicines. It was noted that on the basis of the experience of Tashkent, it is necessary to establish special polyclinics that provide qualified first aid to patients with COVID-19 and pneumonia.
The head of state touched upon the issue of providing medical equipment to alleviate the condition of critically ill patients.
In the last two weeks, an additional 370 artificial respirators, 1,041 portable respirators, 1,164 oxygen concentrators and other necessary medical equipment were delivered and distributed to the regions. Taking into account the possible increase in the number of patients, the Special Republican Commission has been instructed to provide additional equipment to the regions.
The meeting highlighted the importance of systematic monitoring of the health of young children, pregnant women, the elderly, people with disabilities and chronic diseases.
It was stressed that during the quarantine period, no needy family should be neglected, and the system of targeted delivery of financial assistance, food and medicine to low-income families should work properly.
“In the current situation, we must simultaneously treat the infected and develop the economy. Therefore, along with the protection of people’s health, work in other areas should be continued with iron discipline”, Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
The khokims were instructed to take concrete measures based on the real situation in their territory.
During the videoconference, export and investment issues, the fulfillment of budget revenue forecasts, cotton growing and irrigation of crops were also discussed.
