Mosques to open on August 17, Friday prayers still not allowed
In Uzbekistan, mosques will gradually resume activities.
According to the decision of the Special Republican Commission, the activities of religious organizations will be allowed in Uzbekistan from August 17. However, Friday prayers in mosques are still suspended.
“From August 17, the activities of religious organizations will be allowed (with daily disinfection and strict social distance restrictions). At the same time, religious organizations are required not to temporarily perform religious services on Friday, Saturday and Sunday,” the commission’s report reads.
It should be recalled that by the decision of the Special Republican Commission, the activities of religious organizations, including mosques, were suspended from July 10, 2020, to August 1, 2020. Later, by the July 26 decision of the Commission, the quarantine restrictions were extended until August 15.
