Uzbekistan’s foreign trade turnover down by $4.6 billion
In January-July 2020, the country’s foreign trade turnover amounted to $19.5 billion, it decreased by $4.6 billion or by 19.3% compared with the same period last year.
According to the State Statistics Committee, five of the 20 largest foreign economic partners have an active foreign trade balance, including Afghanistan ($396.6 million), the Kyrgyz Republic ($329.0 million), Tajikistan ($173.6 million), the UAE ($7.9 million) and France ($3.2 million). The passive foreign trade balance has been maintained with the remaining 15 countries.
Despite the measures taken to support foreign trade and further strengthen cooperation with CIS countries in this area, in January-July 2020, the share of CIS countries in foreign trade turnover amounted to 32.6%, which is down by 5.9% compared to 2018.
