Uzbekistan plans to construct 11 HPPs this year
On February 22, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev got acquainted with investment projects in the hydropower industry.

In May 2017, Uzbekistan adopted a program for the development of the hydropower industry in 2017-2021. This program includes 65 projects worth $3.4 billion, 34 of which are aimed at creating new capacities, 31 – modernizing the existing ones.
According to the official release, 12 projects with 1,100 megawatts have been launched already. Another 20 projects with 950 megawatts are being implemented at the final stage.
In 2021, 16 projects worth $1.4 billion are planned. In particular, 11 new hydroelectric power plants will be built, the existing stations will be upgraded and their capabilities will be expanded.
