Uzbekistan ranks 21 in terms of mobile data affordability
Cable.co.uk has published a global league table of mobile data costs in 230 countries. Uzbekistan ranked 21st.
According to the portal, as of February 23, 2021, the average price of 1 GB of mobile Internet in Uzbekistan was 60 cents.
Cable.co.uk noted that the price of mobile Internet in the country is declining from year to year. In particular, in 2019 the average price of 1 GB of mobile traffic in Uzbekistan was $3.3, and in 2020 – $1.3.
In the ranking, the first place is occupied by Israel, where the average cost of 1 GB of mobile data is only 5 cents. Kyrgyzstan ranked second – 15 cents.
Fiji (19 cents), Italy and Sudan (27 cents each) are in the TOP-5. Russia is sixth (32 cents) and Kazakhstan is twenty-one (59 cents) ahead of Uzbekistan.
The average price of 1 GB of mobile Internet is $21.4 in Turkmenistan, $7.6 in the UAE, $5 in Switzerland, $4.7 in South Korea, $3.3 in the United States and $2.6 in Tajikistan.
According to the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications of Uzbekistan, the portal Cable.co.uk receives data on the cost of 1 GB of the mobile Internet traffic of all telecom operators in the country under analysis and sets their average value (median).
The analysis provided information on tariff plans and services, mainly for the use of Internet services, the ministry said.
In March, the Ministry of ICT announced that the average cost of 1 GB of mobile Internet in Uzbekistan was 6,000-7,000 soums.
Uzbekistan ranks 129th out of 140 countries in terms of mobile Internet speed.
