Sadyr Japarov: Border issues with Uzbekistan are still not resolved
Border issues with Tajikistan and Uzbekistan have not yet been resolved, negotiations are continuing, the Kyrgyz President Sadyr Japarov said.
“I would like to emphasize that the resolution of border issues with Uzbekistan is being carried out actively and in the spirit of mutual understanding. Negotiations with Tajikistan have also intensified, and more than 50% of the borders have been agreed. In order to resolve the border issue with Tajikistan, the governments of Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan must make a political decision and continue negotiations based on the principle of mutual respect,” Japarov said.
He noted the country’s main priority – the development of political, trade, economic and cultural ties with neighboring countries, strengthening of integration.
Sadyr Japarov expressed a desire to see the closest regional partners – Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan – as members of the EAEU.
According to him, Kyrgyzstan attaches great importance to the fact that the regional dialogue in the form of consultative meetings of the leaders of Central Asian countries is reviving after a long break at the initiative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
