Citizens of Uzbekistan may be permitted to perform Umrah
On December 1, the delegation of Uzbekistan headed by the Chairman of the Muslim Board, Mufti Nuriddin Kholiknazarov and the Chairman of the Committee on Religious Affairs Sodiqjon Toshbayev left for Saudi Arabia.
The delegation will hold talks with Saudi officials on resuming pilgrimage visits to the kingdom for Umrah.
“Muslims in Uzbekistan are eagerly awaiting the start of the Umrah season. We hope that the precautionary measures will soon be eased and the Muslims of our country will be able to perform Umrah again, Insha’Allah,” the Muslim Board said.
Umrah pilgrimage was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic. However, the epidemic situation in Uzbekistan as well as in Saudi Arabia has improved recently and this may help the parties resume direct air traffic.
