Uzbekistan to host first CIS Forum of Regions in 2022
On Wednesday, December 15, the CIS Council for Interregional and Cross-Border Cooperation held its 10th meeting. At the online event, participants discussed, among other issues, holding the first CIS Forum of Regions in Uzbekistan next year.
The concept of the forum has already been worked out. A draft program has also been prepared to include four panel sessions, an exhibition of agricultural products and achievements of CIS regions. Sessions will discuss the development of interregional cooperation in industry, transport and transit, agriculture and business.
It should be noted that the volume of Uzbekistan's foreign trade turnover with the CIS countries is steadily growing over the years. Even during the pandemic, bilateral trade with a number of CIS member states showed a positive balance.
According to the Vice Governor of the Mogilev Oblast of Belarus Ruslan Strakhar, who represented Belarus at the meeting, Uzbekistan may open a trading house of Uzbek goods in Mogilev Oblast soon.
