Inaugural ceremony marks start of Uzbekistan-France Economic Chamber in Tashkent
The organization brings together more than 50 French companies and their Uzbek partners.
The economic chamber "Uzbekistan - France" has begun operations in Tashkent, the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade reported.
The opening ceremony of the chamber took place on April 24. The event discussed opportunities for broader involvement of French business in agriculture, mining, energy, tourism, and other priority sectors.
The president of the economic chamber, Joanna Golas, and the head of MIIT, Laziz Kudratov, signed a memorandum of cooperation. It outlined mechanisms for further interaction within the main directions of the organization's activities.
The economic chamber unites over 50 French companies and entrepreneurs as well as their Uzbek partners. The initiative for its establishment was put forward during French President Emmanuel Macron's visit to Uzbekistan in the autumn of 2023.
One of the main tasks of the chamber is to advise government bodies in both countries to improve the business climate. Additionally, the organization will protect the interests of French and Uzbek companies that are members.
