Uzbekistan plans to issue new banknote with a face value of 200 thousand soums
In 2024, a new banknote with a face value of 200,000 soums may appear in Uzbekistan.
This was announced during today’s press conference by the CB Chairman Mamarizo Nurmuratov, a Kun.uz correspondent reports.
According to him, the new banknote may appear in 2024.
“Some say that the issuance of new banknotes indicates inflation, but this is not so. When we issue new banknotes, the money supply does not change. We just change old banknotes for new ones. New banknotes can also be obtained from ATMs. The security features of the new banknotes are different from the old ones and the integration process will take some time,” he said during his speech.
It should be recalled that on December 15 last year, the Central Bank announced the decision to issue new 50,000 soum and 100,000 soum banknotes from December 22, 2021. The theme of these banknotes is dedicated to the “Great Silk Road”, as well as the history of Surkhandarya and Khorezm regions.
