Sardor Umurzakov meets with head of Taliban government in Kabul
Officials of the Uzbek and Afghan interim governments discussed issues of cooperation.
During a short visit to Kabul on February 22, Deputy PM – Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of Uzbekistan Sardor Umurzakov met with Acting PM of Afghanistan Mullah Muhammad Hassan Akhund and Deputy PM Abdul Salam Hanafi.
The meeting focused on the priority tasks of increasing the volume of mutual trade, removing trade and transport barriers. In this regard, it was proposed to use the facilities of the International Trade Center “Termez”, which combines in its territory a logistics center, production and storage facilities, sales outlets and the necessary infrastructure.
Special attention was paid to the implementation of the Termez-Mazar-e-Sharif-Kabul-Peshawar trans-Afghan railway project, as well as the Surkhan-Puli-Khumri power transmission line. The Afghan side expressed readiness to continue cooperation in this area and take an active part in the implementation of projects.
They also thanked Uzbekistan for the work carried out within the framework of the restoration of the international airport in Mazar-e-Sharif, as well as for the training courses organized to train technical personnel from local specialists.
Following the meeting, the sides agreed to develop dialogue in order to accelerate the resolution of all issues related to the further deepening of Uzbek-Afghan cooperation.
