Uzbekistan’s public debt reaches almost $26.5 billion
Public debt increased by nearly $3 billion by 2021.

The balance of public debt as of January 1, 2022 amounted to $26.3 billion. This is stated in the review of the state and dynamics of Uzbekistan’s public debt for 2021.
Of this amount, external public debt – $23.6 billion, domestic public debt – $2.7 billion or 38.0% of gross domestic product (GDP).
It is noted that the ratio of public debt to GDP decreased from 39% at the beginning of 2021 to 38% as of January 1, 2022.
While public debt increased by $2.9 billion in 2021, the ratio of public debt to GDP has declined due to the rapid growth of GDP in US dollars to $9.4 billion.
According to the IMF report on the countries’ economy, Uzbekistan’s public debt is currently “moderate”.
