Deputy governor of Kokand sentenced for bribery
The court has sentenced the first deputy governor of Kokand and the deputy head of the finance department at the UE “Kokand Regional Railway Hub”, who were detained for bribery in August 2021.
Reportedly, the first deputy governor of Kokand on financial-economic issues and poverty reduction A.N. found out about plans of F.A., the head of “Uchko’prik Export Bazasi” and “Liverpul 2019” LLC, to implement the Central Export Market project in Kokand.
The official promised that he would allocate 2.5 hectares of land and buildings at the balance of the “Kokand Regional Railway Hub” through auction at a low price to the entrepreneur. In return, he asked for $180,000. He conspired with O.M., deputy head of the Finance Department at the UE “Kokand Regional Railway Hub”, to implement his plan.
In the course of an operative event conducted by law enforcement officers, the first deputy governor of Kokand A.N. was arrested at the time of receiving $10,000 of the money demanded. His accomplice O.M. was also detained with material evidence while taking his share.
The Besharik district court on criminal proceedings heard the case and sentenced A.N. to 5 years and 6 months in prison and O.M. – to 5 years and 3 months in prison.
