Sodiq Safoyev receives coordinator of UN office in Uzbekistan

According to the information service of the upper chamber of the Parliament, at the meeting the parties discussed issues of cooperation. During the conversation, it was noted that relations between Uzbekistan and the UN are developing.

In particular, Sodiq Safoyev noted that specific measures have been developed in the republic aimed at the implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals adopted by the UN, special attention is paid to their implementation. In this regard, at the initiative of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis, in 2021, the international forum “Global inter-parliamentary cooperation in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals” was held in Bukhara.

Following the meeting, the parties agreed to raise cooperation to a new level.

It should be recalled that Roli Asthana began her duties in Uzbekistan in February. She replaced Helena Fraser as Resident Coordinator, who headed the UN Office in our country in 2017-2021.
