Samarkand Airport launches E-gates system
The new system allows people to pass passport control in automatic mode.
After testing, the electronic border control system (E-gates) has been launched at the Samarkand airport, Spot writes with reference to Air Marakanda.
The complex was developed by Metall Center by order of the Border Troops of the State Security Service. It will ensure fast and safe passport control for arriving passengers.
The system automatically identifies travelers based on biometric data, with minimal human involvement. The complex includes document scanners, as well as high-resolution video cameras.
Air Marakanda uses the most advanced technologies in the new terminal of the air harbor, said the general director of the operator Gairat Nematov. Installing E-gates was the logical decision in this direction.
“We are interested in the latest equipment to minimize the time for passengers to go through all the necessary procedures,” Nematov added. “In aviation activities, safety and comfort are the most important principles, and such a project meets these requirements as much as possible.”
The acceleration of passport control, in turn, will help to increase the tourism potential of Samarkand. The new technology will also reduce the likelihood of errors due to the human factor, the border service stressed.
Samarkand airport became the first air harbor in the country to introduce E-gates. It is noted that the complex can be used at road checkpoints as well.
