The event will be held under the theme “Security in the Era of Digital Transformation: Countering Terrorism and Extremism in Light of New Technological Developments,” Uzbekistan’s State Security Service (SSS) reported.
The meeting will be chaired by SSS chief Lieutenant General Bakhodir Kurbanov.
According to the agency, 33 delegations from 24 countries and five international structures are expected to attend. Participants will include heads and representatives of special services from SCO member states, observer countries and dialogue partners, as well as international organizations and invited guests.
The initiative to establish the dialogue in this format was put forward by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the SCO summit in Astana in 2024. At the 2025 SCO summit in Tianjin, member states proposed holding the inaugural expert meeting in Samarkand.
Discussions will focus on how emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, are reshaping security challenges and threats.
The dialogue is expected to conclude with delegation heads identifying specific tasks and priorities for cooperation against international terrorism and extremism in the context of digital transformation.
