5 people die of carbon monoxide poisoning in Jizzakh and Khorezm
Three of the dead were minors.
Khayot Shamsutdinov, the press secretary of the Prosecutor General’s Office, informed Kun.uz that 5 people died of carbon monoxide poisoning in two days in Jizzakh and Khorezm regions.
On November 13, 2022 at 7:30 p.m., citizen D.S. (born in 2001), living on rent in house 25, apartment 21, block 4, Urganch city, Khorezm region and citizen R.B. (born in 2007) were poisoned by carbon dioxide released from a home-made heating boiler installed in his apartment and died.
On November 13, 2022, the Urganch city prosecutor’s office initiated a criminal case under Paragraph “a” of Article 259-2 of the Criminal Code.
On November 15, 2022, at about 8:30 a.m., citizen A.A. (born in 1959), living in Yangikent mahalla, Zarbdor district, Jizzakh region, and his grandchildren O.A. (born in 2008) and Ch.T. (born in 2010) died of gas poisoning leaked from a home-made heating device in his living room.
Zarbdor district prosecutor’s office is investigating this case.
Earlier, on November 6, 2022, a 34-year-old mother and her two children, aged 10 and 15, died from carbon monoxide poisoning in Jizzakh.
Carbon monoxide poisoning occurs when the cold season begins in Uzbekistan. In most cases, gas poisoning is caused by poor cleaning of the chimney of heating furnaces or negligence in the installation of heating devices.
