Uzbekistan cuts gas supplies to Kyrgyzstan
Uzbekistan supplies natural gas to the south of Kyrgyzstan.
Alexander Grebenyuk, Deputy Director General of Gazprom Kyrgyzstan for Production, said that in the last autumn-winter period in the southern regions of the country, there was a sharp drop in natural gas pressure in the Khodjaobod-Osh and Ursatyevskaya-Fergana gas pipelines, reports 24.kg.
“The situation with gas supplies is monitored around the clock. In order to avoid emergency situations on gas pipelines, as well as taking into account the priorities of supplying natural gas to consumers in the city of Osh (budgetary organizations, apartment buildings), the Oshgaz branch will be forced to limit gas supply to the private sector during peak hours, given their ability to use an alternative type of fuel,” said Alexander Grebenyuk.
He added that work is underway with an external supplier Gazprom Export LLC and colleagues from Uzbekistan to ensure the stability of natural gas supplies.
Earlier, Deputy Energy Minister Sherzod Khodjayev said that Uzbekistan had almost completely stopped gas exports.
