Police detain a group of criminals planning to rob an entrepreneur in Namangan
One suspect was detained in Tashkent, nine – in Namangan. They had knives, a stun gun, masks, rubber gloves, the uniform of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, and so on.
Law enforcement officers detained a large criminal group that planned a raid on the businessman's house in order to steal $2 million.
The Ministry of Internal Affairs reported that the raiders were detained on April 12 during operational-search activities organized in Tashkent and Namangan.
Thus, a 44-year-old member of a criminal group, previously convicted under 8 articles of the Criminal Code, was detained on the territory of the Almazar district. As material evidence, 2 specially made knives, field uniforms of law enforcement officers, rubber gloves, a sports bag and psychotropic drugs were confiscated from him.
On the same day, in the Namangan region, other nine members of the group were detained. The detainees were found with sportswear, masks, gloves, 3 knives, a stun gun, telephones, drugs and other equipment prepared for the raid.
It is noted that most of the detainees are previously convicted, entrepreneurs and athletes. Many of them worked with the businessman they were trying to rob.
On this fact, a criminal case was initiated under Part 2 of Art. 164 of the Criminal Code (robbery). With regard to 10 detainees, a preventive measure in the form of detention was applied. An investigation is underway.
