Individuals who demanded $80,000 in exchange for appointment to the post of district governor arrested in Fergana
The persons who demanded $80,000 in exchange for appointment to the post of district governor were arrested by employees of the MIA Investigation Department.
On May 18, 2023, a resident of Uchkuprik district, Fergana region, submitted an application to the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
It is noted that in April of this year, a person who introduced himself as an employee of the presidential administration and his partner told him that the governors of Uchkuprik and Besharik districts of Fergana region will be dismissed after the referendum on April 30.
The author of the application stated that they were looking for a candidate and demanded $80,000 in exchange for deciding on the appointment of the governor of the Uchkuprik district, of which $25,000 for the preparation of documents.
According to the application, during the operative event conducted by officers of the MIA Department for Combating Corruption and Economic Crimes, two individuals in Mirabad district were caught red-handed when they took $25,000 of the requested money from the applicant.
The applications and documents prepared for the presidential administration requesting the appointment of several citizens to leadership positions were seized from them for examination.
On this day, the MIA Investigative Department initiated a criminal case under Articles 168-4, 28, 211-3 of the Criminal Code. Both suspects were imprisoned in accordance with Article 221 of the Criminal Procedural Code.
