"Fathers should not bury their children" - Mayor of New York attends funeral of a young man from Uzbekistan
New York City Mayor Eric Adams also visited the funeral of Faridun Mavlonov, the 15-year-old son of Uzbek immigrants who was shot dead in the USA, and expressed his condolences to the relatives of the deceased.
"He was a very calm, peace-loving child. He wanted to be the American champion and show the American flag to Uzbekistan. We were always proud of him," his grandmother Umara Kamalova said.
Kamalova also asked the mayor and the police to prevent such tragedies in the city.
The mayor of New York City, Eric Adams, also came to the mosque, attended the young man's funeral and expressed his condolences to the relatives of the deceased.
Adams argued that the streets must be cleared of firearms to stop the killings.
"There are too many guns on our streets, too much violence among our youth. There are young people in the city who harbor anger and violence. It is very painful. We must accept this painful moment and dedicate our lives to save children.
Young people are killing young people at an alarming rate. Fathers should never bury their sons. Losing our children is an indictment on our entire city and our entire country. We have to change it, we are losing a lot," New York City Mayor Eric Adams said.
On July 17, Faridun Mavlonov, the 15-year-old son of Uzbek immigrants, died in New York, USA. The boy was allegedly shot dead by a 17-year-old teenager, the police have not yet detained the killer.
