Citizen of Uzbekistan who suffered from human trafficking in Malaysia returned to her homeland

The Embassy of our country provided practical assistance in returning home a 24-year-old citizen of Uzbekistan, N.E. (female), who went to work in Malaysia and became a victim of human trafficking, a Kun.uz correspondent reports.

Earlier, a compatriot applied to the Embassy with a statement that the employer took away her passport, did not pay wages and exerted physical pressure on her.

As a result of the efforts of diplomats to protect the legitimate rights and interests of the citizen of Uzbekistan, N.E., her international passport, which was detained by an unscrupulous employer, was returned.

Malaysian law enforcement authorities opened a criminal case against the employer on the case of citizen N.E. The local court received the Uzbek citizen’s testimony and allowed her to return to her homeland.

With the support of representatives of the diplomatic mission and the MIA Migration Department of this country, N.E. returned from Kuala Lumpur to Tashkent.

The Embassy of Uzbekistan urges our compatriots before traveling to Malaysia not to succumb to false promises, not to believe in offers of easy employment and to strictly comply with the requirements of local legislation when entering and staying in this country.
