Electricity supply to be suspended partially in two districts of Tashkent
Since the beginning of summer, scheduled repairs of electrical networks have been ongoing, in some places more than once.
Power outages are planned in two districts of the capital on August 30, the branch of the Regional Electricity Networks reported.
The following locations will experience a suspension of supply (it is possible to resume it earlier than the specified time):
• in the Uchtepa district - part of the Diyorobod mahalla from 09:00 to 17:00;
• in the Mirabad district - part of the At-Termizi mahalla from 10:00 to 17:00 (the second day in a row).
Scheduled repairs and upgrades to the power grid infrastructure have been going on since the beginning of June. In different parts of Tashkent, power supply is alternately suspended.
On June 8, the largest rolling blackouts of the season were observed in the capital - eight districts were deprived of electricity. Since the second half of the month, the power supply has been cut off mainly locally, but from time to time major emergency shutdowns are again reported.
The Ministry of Energy at the end of July commented on the rolling blackouts in Uzbekistan. They were linked to a "difficult situation" in the fuel and energy industry amid high temperatures and record energy demand.
On August 11, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced the transfer of the energy sector leadership to an emergency mode of operation. The President urged them to urgently act to prepare the energy system for the autumn-winter period.
