Powerchina begins construction of a 400 MW photovoltaic power plant in Andijan
The construction of the solar photovoltaic power plant with a capacity of 400 megawatts was launched on September 13.
The project is being implemented by the Chinese Powerchina International Group in Andijan, the Ministry of Energy said.
The launching ceremony was attended by the regional governor Shukhratbek Abdurahmonov and representatives of the company.
The launch of the first stage with a capacity of 100 MW is scheduled for April 1, 2024. The plant is expected to be fully commissioned by the end of next November.
After reaching its designed capacity, the solar farm will be able to generate up to 700 million kWh of electricity per year. Compared to thermal power plants of similar capacity, 212 million cubic meters of gas will be saved, and atmospheric emissions will be reduced by 294 million tons.
The Ministry of Energy and Powerchina International entered into a preliminary agreement on the project of the future thermal power plant in May. On July 31, a tripartite agreement was signed with the participation of the Andijan regional administration on the construction of the power plant.
